約1930年代開始塑膠被大量製造，對於地球來說一百年如同一瞬，然而塑膠卻已經融入土地之中，成為地質學上人類存在的鮮明標記。
《人造保島計畫》使用上屆燈節回收的保麗龍，並將其以丙酮軟化。丙酮與保麗龍反應時，大部分空氣會散失，材料縮減成一塊小小的黏土，將過去所累積的塵土如同層積岩膠結，壓縮了關於未來的想像以及過去的痕跡。

Since the 1930s, when plastic began mass production—a mere blink in geological time—these synthetic materials have become embedded in Earth’s crust, forming distinct geological markers of human existence.
“Polystyrene Island Project” utilizes polystyrene foam recycled from previous lantern festivals, softened with acetone. During this reaction, trapped air escapes as the material condenses into clay-like aggregates. These formations cement accumulated particulates like sedimentary strata, compressing both visions of the future and traces of the past within their layered forms.
